Easy Crochet Hat Pattern

Once you get down this easy pattern it is so much fun to change colors and make wacky patterns for anyone!!
You can use almost any crochet hook size, but I recommend something between 5.00mm and 6.50mm.
sc = single crochet
1) Crochet 3 chain in round, join to make circle
2) 12 sc in circle  (12)
3) *1sc, 2sc in next sc*6  (18)
4) *1sc, 1sc, 2sc in next sc*6  (24)
5) *1sc x3, 2 sc in next sc*6  (30)
6) *1sc x4, 2sc in next sc*6  (36)
7) *1sc x5, 2sc in next sc*6  (42)
8) *1sc x6, 2sc in next sc*6  (48)
9) *1sc x7, 2sc in next sc*6 (54)
10) *1sc x8, 2sc in next sc*6 (60)
I recommend for a child's hat, stop increasing at 60sc or 66sc and sc in each sc around for about 10 rounds, then tie off.
11) *1sc x9, 2sc in next sc*6 (66)
I recommend for a teen's hat, stop increasing at 66sc or 72sc and sc in each sc around for about 10 rounds, then tie off.
12) *1sc x10, 2sc in next sc*6 (72)
I recommend for an adult's hat, stop increasing at 72sc or 78sc and sc in each sc around for about 10 rounds, then tie off.
13) *sc x11, 2sc in next sc*6 (78)
If you are using either a small hook or thin yarn and need to continue to increase your hat size follow these instructions and begin to sc in each sc around for about 10 rounds when you see fit.
14) *sc x12, 2sc in next sc*6 (84)
15) *sc x13, 2sc in next sc*6 (90)
16) *sc x14, 2sc in next sc*6 (96)
17) *sc x15, 2sc in next sc*6 (102)

I hope you find this pattern easy to follow, below I will show you my variations on this pattern with pictures and more easy to follow crochet instructions.

    1. If you are using one color, I usually crochet the whole hat in a spiral, but if you are using more than one color, a slip knot between rounds works great. Happy Crocheting : )
